In 2013, Christa Hibbard served as the Help Center Coordinator as the Seventh Judicial District launched a new Access to Justice Program in partnership with Volunteer Legal Services Project of Monroe County, Inc. “Christa did an excellent job bringing a new program on board and rounding up volunteers for the Help Center,” VLSP Executive Director Sheila Gaddis explained. The sign-up schedule is accessible on the VLSP website, allowing volunteers to select a 1.5 or 2-hour shift.
The New York Bar Foundation recently awarded VLSP $15,100 in support of the Court Help Center.
“Our volunteer attorneys help solve the legal issues, but VLSP needs to keep records, train volunteers, and serve as administrator to keep the program running,” Gaddis added, expressing her gratitude for the recent grant and the Foundation’s continued support.
