Art of Lawyering

VLSP’s Art of Lawyering is a great way to show off your many talents, as an artist, a patron of the arts, or as a volunteer!  Held every other year, this VLSP fundraiser offers the more artistic members of our legal community an opportunity to showcase their talents while aiding a worthy cause.  Art created by friends and family of legal professionals also is accepted gladly.  Donations to the Art of Lawyering are tax-deductible.

The diverse array of donated artwork is professionally displayed at “Gallery VLSP” in our offices at the Telesca Center for Justice, 1 West Main Street, 5th Floor, Rochester, New York.  The gallery features paintings, pottery, fiber art, quilts, jewelry, sculptures in metal and wood, stained glass, photography, traditional handicrafts and more.  Admission is free and open to all.

The gallery opens with a gala reception at VLSP’s offices featuring upscale refreshments and live music graciously provided by attorney-musicians. The next Art of Lawyering will be Thursday, September 26, 2013.  To submit artwork, click here .

The donated artwork is sold in a silent auction to benefit VLSP.  Silent auction bidding begins at the gallery opening reception.  Donated pieces may also be used to recognize volunteers and enhance our offices.

Artistically talented members of the legal community who regularly donate to VLSP’s Art of Lawyering include retired Livingston County Judge/woodcrafter Jerry Alonzo, attorney/jeweler Sarah Feingold, attorney/fabric artist Karla Wilsey of Boylan Brown Code Vigdor & Wilson, LLP and attorney/photographer Carla Palumbo.  Many other local legal professionals have contributed to the Art of Lawyering. VLSP’s Art of Lawyering enjoys support from members of the local arts community, including Barb Amering of the Nan Miller Gallery in Rochester who expertly arranges the gallery for the opening night reception. Several area businesses including Plunkett's Fabulous Food, Whitehouse Liquor, BTU Special Events, along with VLSP's Board of Directors, donate food, wine and entertainment for the opening reception.
