Immigration Update:
On January 25, 2017, President Trump issued an executive order which significantly changed the enforcement priorities for removal.
Any undocumented immigrant who
(i) has been convicted of any crime,
(ii) has been charged or committed acts that constitute a chargeable offence,
(iii) has committed fraud or wilful misrepresentation in any application to any government agency or abused a program for public benefits
(iv) is subject to a final removal order, or
(v) in judgment of immigration officer is a risk to public safety, is removable.

This executive order requires the federal government to enter into agreements with States and local government for local enforcement agencies to perform the functions of immigration officers and sanctions penalties for sanctuary cities in loss of funding.
On January 27, 2017, President Trump issued another executive order suspending the US Refugee Program for 120 days, banning Syrian refugees and suspending visas and other immigration benefits to nationals of 7 countries-Syria, Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Sudan, Libya and Yemen for at least 90 days. This order has been temporarily stayed nationwide.

There are other draft executive orders on immigration which may or may not be issued.
